Need for STEM-literate Students

Why is there such a Need? “Northern Virginia has one of the most diverse, multicultural populations in the world. However, segments of our population do not have the education and skill sets needed to participate productively in the knowledge economy that has been created,” notes Dr. Robert Templin, president Northern Virginia Community College (NVCC). “There is urgency to act now and work together to build our STEM pipeline with students who are excited about STEM throughout their K-12 Years.” Prior to joining NVCC in 2002, Dr.Templin served as the president of Virginia’s Center for Innovative Technology, an organization that enhances Virginia’s economic competitiveness through technology-based economic development.
